Lionel Messi
Some call him Leo, some call him The Messi-ah, but almost everyone agrees that right now, when he’s on his form, there is no better player in the world. He is a star for both Argentina and Barcelona, but it’s fair to say that his best moments have come in a Barca shirt. In 2010, he followed up a brilliant club season (34 goals in 35 appearances) with a World Cup that saw him take more of a supporting role. He created goal after goal for Argentina (until they hit a wall called Germany), but scored none for himself, and many fans say that Maradona played him too far back, and didn’t really set him up to be a scorer. In fact, if Messi has a weak point in his C.V., it’s been the lack of World Cup goals, with only one in 2006 to his name. But he is young, astonishingly only 23, and he will have more chances.
