Landon Donovan
If you’re an American soccer fan, chances are you have an opinion about Landon Donovan. Fans of the USMNT know him as a national team legend, all-time top scorer and provider of great moments like the last-second goal against Algeria in the 2010 World Cup, and the goal against Slovenia in that same tournament that started a two-goal comeback for the Yanks. MLS fans know him as the long-time star of the LA Galaxy, both before and after the coming of one Mr. Beckham. Fans of many of the other MLS sides have their own opinions about “Landycakes”, and he certainly has his share of detractors south of the border as well, having done more than most players to keep the heated rivalry between the US and Mexico strong. Whatever your take on Donovan, he is one of the greats of US soccer, and certainly has done his part to help with the advancement of the game in the USA.
