Frank Lampard
Outside of Chelsea and England fans, many might overlook Frank Lampard when discussing the best midfielders in the game, but that might be unfair. He has been a rock in the midfield for Chelsea since 2001, racking up over 325 appearances for the club and reaching third on the all-time Chelsea goalscoring list. Three times Chelsea player of the year, and UEFA midfielder of the year in 2008, Lampard will be a very tough one to replace for both club and country when he decides to call it a career. At World Cup 2010, almost certainly his last for England, he made headlines as the victim of a refereeing mistake that cost him what would have been his only World Cup goal.
